August 2023

Dear <Preferred First Name>,

In an increasingly complex global world, Kalamazoo College strives to provide its students with the tools needed to meet challenges and create solutions for a brighter world. Through the K-Plan students are encouraged to develop their skills, build relationships and take on new experiences to help prepare them to be leaders in their communities.

The K-Plan helps students set intentional pathways for learning, exploration and success.

  • Entering students take their first-year interdisciplinary seminar and they are provided with the opportunity to go on LandSea— helping them set their path at K.
  • Sophomore year brings opportunities for community-based learning and declaring a major.
  • As juniors, life at K expands beyond our fair Arcadian hill. Through experiences across the world and country on study abroad or away, a summer internship experience and preparation for the Senior Integrated Project (SIP), K students are well on their path of exploration.
  • In their senior year, students bring all that they have learned at K together through one final major-specific seminar, the completion of their SIP and the celebration of all they have accomplished. They are now ready to take the proverbial torch to light their own way into the world. Lux esto!

Through alumni support, current students can grow in the classroom, participate in cross-cultural experiences, and engage in hands-on practice and independent learning.

Please make a gift to the Kalamazoo College Fund to support the many paths students will take. Whether in support of K’s Highest Priorities, Scholarships and Financial Aid or Faculty Excellence, your gift will help make the most of K’s experiential education.

You are also invited to make a one-time gift or multi-year commitment to the Class of 1973 Endowed Scholarship in honor of our 50th reunion this year using the enclosed reply card. Another way you can contribute is by naming K and our class year as a beneficiary of your will, trust, life insurance policy, retirement assets, or gift annuities. By doing so, you will become a member of the Stetson Society. If you have any questions regarding the fund or would like more information, please reach out to Lindsay O’Donohue at 269.337.7299 or lindsay.odonohue@kzoo.edu. Our 50th reunion is scheduled for Homecoming and Reunion Weekend, October 6-8. Hope to see you there!
