Kalamazoo College Fund
Impact Report
July 2022–June 2023
Annual gifts to Kalamazoo College help to support K’s capacity to educate leaders, thinkers, dreamers and doers by providing funds for scholarships and financial aid, faculty resources and the College’s greatest needs.
Your gifts make a difference for current and future K students. See how your impact affirms K’s mission to prepare graduates to better understand, live successfully within, and provide enlightened leadership to a richly diverse and increasingly complex world.
K students can Turn Four into More because of you.
Here’s where support to the Kalamazoo College Fund (KCF) was allocated in the 2022-2023 fiscal year:
46% to Scholarships and Financial Aid
Students’ most important need in attending college is your greatest area of giving. Scholarships and financial aid bring an increasingly diverse population of students to K—and provide 98 percent of students with some form of aid.
20% to Faculty Excellence and Resources
The talented faculty at K works closely with students to further fields of study and turn theories into reality in their own work. K’s student-to-faculty ratio is 11:1. Resources help faculty create innovative curriculums that take students beyond the classroom into the community and the world.
34% to K’s Highest Priorities
From providing opportunities and experiences to maintaining our nearly two-centuries-old campus on our fair Arcadian hill, your support helps the College to improve the lives of its students.

Choosing K was the best decision I could’ve made. While the curriculum here is rigorous, it has taught me to be a balanced individual, to manage my time while being disciplined enough to complete my schoolwork and work part-time as manager for the men’s basketball team.
When I first applied and arrived on campus, I was unaware of the opportunity to study abroad. The decision to go abroad was a daunting one; however, I decided to take a risk and chose to go to Costa Rica. I enjoyed every moment of it, making lifelong friends along the way and unforgettable memories with them too. This experience opened my eyes to traveling and embracing a foreign culture and taught me independence, problem-solving and risk-taking.
It is through the financial generosity of donors that I received many of my scholarships to pursue an education at K. Because of their philanthropy, I can tell others of my K experience and, hopefully, they’ll be encouraged to pursue an education here too.

My experience at K has been phenomenal. Because it is a smaller institution, you get to learn and grow in an environment that is supportive and centered around your goals. I am highly involved in the music and chemistry departments on campus, aligning with my two passions.
I had research opportunities as a first-year student, stepped into leadership roles as a sophomore and soloed in multiple music performances over the past two years. Through my involvements on campus, I hope to continue flourishing into a more confident, kind and well-rounded student and leader.
Gifts from alumni and friends enhance my K experience by allowing me to focus on my academics. Through the support of scholarships, I can focus my time on studying and extracurricular work instead of worrying about the finances of my education.
President’s Student Ambassadors
Thank you to the President’s Student Ambassadors—a group of student leaders that serve as an extension of the president’s hospitality at events and gatherings, welcoming alumni and guests of the College—for all the work that they do to support the Kalamazoo College Fund. For over a decade, ambassadors have continued to make an impact by sharing their K stories and making connections from students to alumni, families and friends.
Class Agents
Alumni Class Agents are the essential peer-to-peer volunteers who help the College connect with their classmates and beyond. Across all generations of alumni, they value their K experience and help to promote and advance support for future students. From activating their class appeal in the fall to helping spread the word for the Day of Gracious Giving, we thank all who have served in this role and will continue to serve for years to come!
The 1833 Society
Our leadership donors—634 individual donors who contribute $1,833 or more annually to KCF—contributed $1,922,797 in the last year. The generosity of these donors provides brighter opportunities and experiences for students to explore all aspects of the K-Plan.
Brighter Light Campaign
Thank you to all those who have helped light the way in support of brighter opportunities. As of June 30, 2023, the campaign includes $18,400,599 in gifts directed to the Kalamazoo College Fund. These immediate-use gifts are directed toward K’s Highest Priorities, Scholarships and Financial Aid, and Faculty Excellence.
