The Emeriti Club is an alumni organization for members of classes who graduated 50 or more years ago. A membership certificate and an Emeriti Club pin are presented to alumni upon their induction at the 50 year reunion during Homecoming Weekend in the fall.
Emeriti Club members are encouraged to donate scrapbooks, event programs, and other memorabilia to the Upjohn Library for archival purposes. Members are also encouraged to write or otherwise record special memories of professors, classes, special events, sports activities, and other recollections of the College. Materials should be sent directly to the College’s archives or to the Office of Alumni Relations.
Citation of Merit Award
Members of the Emeriti Club are encouraged to nominate fellow members to receive a Citation of Merit Award. Please use the online nomination form, or print and send a form to the Office of Alumni Relations anytime throughout the year. Please provide as much information as possible about the nominee.
Criteria for the selection of citation recipients are as follows:
- Length of time attended Kalamazoo College
- Extent of alumni activity and involvement
- Outstanding professional experience
- Level of civic, church, school, and/or community service involvement
- Continued support of the College
The Emeriti Club Leadership Council meets in the spring to consider the nominees and select the citation recipients. Nominees not selected are kept for future consideration.
Emeriti Club Scholarship
In 1976, the Emeriti Club Scholarship was established. This Scholarship is included as a portion of the financial aid package, given to a deserving student. Scholarship recipients are invited to attend the annual Emeriti Club Gathering and Citation of Merit Award presentation to meet with alumni. Emeriti Club Gathering
Involvement in the Emeriti Club includes attending the annual Emeriti Club Gathering and Citation of Merit Awards presentation. This event takes place during Homecoming Weekend. The 2017 gathering will be held on Saturday, October 21 at 12:00 p.m. in the Weimer K. Hick’s Center lowel level banquet room.
