The Alumni Admission Volunteer (AAV) Program

Sara Wiener“I chose to participate in a college fair in my area because it was a fun and rewarding way to give back to K…I wanted to play a part in putting K on the radar screen for prospective students in my area…I really enjoyed speaking to students and families who had questions about Kalamazoo College, and when the fair was over I felt like I had given back to my alma mater. Volunteering for admissions is an easy and enjoyable way to be a part of the future of K.”

~Sara Wiener, K’03

What is AAV?

The Office of Admission frequently enlists the help of alumni in the recruitment of prospective students to Kalamazoo College. The only cost associated with this program is your time (which can be as much or as little as you are willing and able to give). Alumni Admission Volunteers participate in a number of recruitment activities, including:

  • Sending notes to admitted students
  • Calling prospective student
  • Attending College Fairs
  • Participating in an alumni panel
  • Taking a prospective student to coffee

Why AAV?

Because as an alum, you have experienced the distinctiveness of a K education, and thus have credibility in recommending Kalamazoo to students. Prospective families really appreciate hearing your college stories, as well as learning about life after K. It’s also a great way to stay engaged with the College.
