Anthony Youn, M.D.—a nationally recognized plastic surgeon, author, podcaster and TV show host—will deliver the keynote address at Kalamazoo College’s 2026 Convocation, scheduled for 3 p.m. Wednesday, September 9, on the campus Quad.

Youn, a 1994 K graduate, has been named one of the top plastic surgeons in the U.S. by Newsweek, Harper’s Bazaar, U.S. News & World Report, Town & Country Magazine, Marie Claire and others. He maintains a private practice in the Detroit area, where he specializes in holistic plastic surgery with an emphasis on safety, patient education and healing.

Beyond the operating room, Youn hosts the popular podcast The Doctor Youn Show.  He has also appeared on the reality show Dr. 90210, Live with Kelly and Mark, Today, GMA, and the Rachael Ray Show. Youn is also the author of four best-selling books: The Age Fix: A Leading Plastic Surgeon Reveals How to Really Look Ten Years Younger, In Stitches: A Memoir, Playing God: The Evolution of a Modern Surgeon, and Younger for Life. He is one of the most followed doctors on social media, with over 14 million followers across platforms.

Throughout his career, Youn has conducted scientific research on topics including laser treatments, reconstructive trauma surgery and HIV medications. He has authored or co-authored several scientific publications on plastic surgery.  

After earning his bachelor’s degree in health sciences at K, Youn received his Doctor of Medicine from Michigan State University and completed his general surgery and plastic surgery training at the Grand Rapids MERC Plastic Surgery Residency Program. He later completed an aesthetic plastic surgery fellowship in Beverly Hills before returning to Michigan.

Convocation marks the start of the academic year and formally welcomes the matriculating class of 2030 into the Kalamazoo College community. All students, families, faculty and staff are invited to attend in person or through a livestream.
