Hornet supporters invest in student-athletes in many ways. Some give through the Hornet Athletic Association (HAA) to provide flexible support for one or more of K’s 22 athletic programs. Others choose a specific priority that furthers the student-athlete experience. Whatever inspires you to give, your generosity is part of a larger community helping student-athletes compete, learn and grow.

Hornet Golf Jamboree

On June 22, 2026, 144 golfers and 21 sponsors came together at Gull Lake View East to celebrate their connection to Kalamazoo College and Hornet Athletics. Together, they raised $30,125 to support K student-athletes, providing K Athletics with flexible resources to respond to emerging needs and enhance the student-athlete experience. Thank you to everyone who played, sponsored and helped make the day possible. Next year’s outing is scheduled for June 21, 2027.

“Being a student-athlete at K taught me that some of the most meaningful work we do is for other people. Athletics showed me that leadership is less about recognition and more about the consistency in showing up for others.

“As I head towards graduate school this fall, I’ll carry forward the discipline and persistence I developed through both academics and athletics. Whether in research, teaching, or leadership, I hope to contribute to the communities that helped me the same way others helped me at K.

The right tools can help student-athletes train smarter, compete with confidence and take better care of their well-being. This year, HAA support helped provide GPS systems to monitor performance and player wellness; software that gives K’s golf teams valuable indoor training and improvement feedback; a new coach-to-player communication system that gives football players real-time guidance during games; and film analysis programs that help multiple teams evaluate and improve performance.

Training and Performance

Supporting student-athletes means supporting what happens both on and off the field. HAA support helped provide nutritious post-game meals for women’s soccer to fuel recovery, and protein shakes for football players following weightlifting. Team meals and snacks do more than fuel competition and training—they also create opportunities for teammates to connect, build camaraderie and strengthen the bonds that make a team.

Enhanced Recruiting

Every student-athlete’s K experience begins with a connection—to a coach, a team, a community. HAA support helps coaches build those connections by providing recruiting software that reduces administrative work and gives coaches more time to build relationships with prospective Hornets. Support also helps cover travel to in-state and regional competitions, giving coaches more opportunities to see prospective student-athletes compete in person. Student-athletes represent more than 46% of the incoming 2026-27 class.

In addition to gifts through the Hornet Athletic Association, donors made nearly $347,000 in additional investments this year. These gifts reflect the many ways supporters choose to invest in the student-athlete experience—from program endowments and capital improvements to coaching stipends. Together, these investments help strengthen programs today while building a strong future for K student-athletes.

Building Stronger Hornets
You are helping bring a new level of strength and conditioning to Hornet Athletics. Through our partnership with Athletic Mentors, student-athletes have access to certified strength coaches, individualized training, nutrition guidance and technology to help them prepare, perform and build confidence.

Investing in Great Coaches
Great coaches make a lasting difference. Coaching stipends help K retain talented coaches and expand the support available to our teams—giving student-athletes more opportunities for individual attention, mentorship and growth.

“I have a mad love for NCAA Division III sports. There’s something so special about a group who dedicates all that time in college to practicing and competing—just because they love the sport.

“K’s focus on academics, while rightfully placed, means that athletics typically take a backseat when it comes to financial allocations and fundraising. Being able to donate directly to Hornet Athletics makes me feel like I’m helping maintain the programs that meant so much to me when I was a student-athlete.

“I got to spend a ton of time with amazing women, some of whom have become lifelong friends. Pushing myself academically and athletically across the seasons, balancing classes and tests and practices and games, gave me the confidence that I could handle competing priorities in post-college life. We were great, and we were also silly, and it instilled in me that you don’t have to choose one or the other—that hard work is more rewarding when you have fun with it.”

Hornets in the Classroom

Student-athletes learn skills in training and competition that help them in the classroom, and vice versa. When they are well supported in pursuing their passion in sport, they are better equipped to excel academically.

Hornets in the Community

Student-athletes are extending their impact beyond campus, representing K and serving through local organizations. These experiences help them gain meaningful, hands-on experiences while supporting the greater Kalamazoo community.
