Assistant Professor of German
The Department of German Studies at Kalamazoo College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position to begin in September 2017. Salary will be competitive and consistent with level of experience. The successful candidate will teach six courses per year, two per 10-week term, at all levels of German language and culture while contributing to the vitality of a small but growing German program in the context of the liberal arts. Ph.D. in German is required at the time of appointment, as well as native or near-native abilities in both German and English. We seek well-rounded candidates with training and experience in content-based foreign language instruction and undergraduate curriculum development. The successful candidate will have the ability to teach a broad range of courses covering language, literature, visual media and the cultures of German-speaking countries. Teaching regularly in the College's interdisciplinary Shared Passages core curriculum is also expected. Part of a cohort of four tenure-track searches in the languages division, this appointment provides a unique opportunity for collaboration across languages disciplines.
