Kalamazoo College Students Celebrate Day of Gracious Living (DOGL)

The Day of Gracious Living is a 40+-year-old tradition at Kalamazoo College.
Begun in 1974, the day took on greater significance for the K community after a tornado devastated much of campus’ surroundings in 1980. Students used their day off from classes to help residents and businesses clean up the damage wrought by the twister. To this day, the College sets aside one day each spring to acknowledge the words inscribed in stone above one dorm on campus: The End of Learning is Gracious Living.
