There are two major types of Admission “Yield” Events (events designed to encourage admitted students to attend K): Visit the Zoo (on campus) Events and Swarm (off campus) events.
At both types of events, an alumni panel will present about the outcomes of their K education and will participate in a Q&A session with prospective students/families. Each panel will ideally be a representative sampling of alumni, balanced in gender, major, graduation year, current profession, location, and race/ethnicity. You will be contacted by the Office of Admission to confirm your participation on the panel(s) for which you have indicated your availability.

Visit the Zoo events bring admitted students and their families from around the country to our campus. Each event features opportunities for students to spend the night on campus and attend a class, as well as presentations by CIP, FYE, OSI, ACSJL, CCE, and other opportunities to engage with the campus community.
An alumni panel comprised of 4-5 alums speaking about how their Kalamazoo College education prepared them for life after college will be a prominent feature of the event. This panel will be moderated by Joan Hawxhurst and preceded by a brief presentation about the CCPD. Alum panelists are invited to participate in a “Passions to Professions” lunch with current students following their admission engagement. Alum Panelists can expect to be on campus from 9:15am – 1:30pm. Information about how to prepare will be sent upon confirmation.
Travel subsidies are available through the Admission Office should panelists need assistance getting to campus.
These events are a collaboration between the Office of Admission and the Office of Alumni Relations. Each spring, K staff members “swarm” targeted cities in Michigan to celebrate with admitted students and their families on their home turf. The events feature a brief presentation by Admission staff followed by a moderated alumni panel with 4-5 panelists. There will be time available to mingle with prospective students and families before and after the panel. Information about how to prepare for the panel will be sent upon confirmation.
