Be Kind Don't Rewind. Piper, age 8.

Piper picked the slogan “Be kind, don’t rewind.” She drew a girl with a butterfly on one side of the poster. I asked her why she chose a butterfly to represent the idea of “Be kind.” Piper responded that the butterfly represented something that was not mean, that it wasn’t a nasty bug that bit people. She then drew a picture of a TV and a VCR with an X over it because this represented the idea of “Don’t rewind.” This part of the slogan was a declaration to refrain from continuing the bullying if one has been bullied. Hence: don’t rewind the bullying action if you’ve been bullied, and instead be kind.—Selena Kim (Kalamazoo College student).
