Don't Tell Little Kids What to Do! Marquice, age 9.
Marquice’s slogan was “Don’t tell little kids what to do!” He drew a big kid telling a little kid to do his math test for him, and the little kid responds with “No!” I asked him why it is a big kid picking on a little kid and he answered, “It’s always the big kids picking on the little kids. They get away with it, so they do it.” I asked him if his slogan portrayed the meaning he was trying to get across, because grown ups, in some respects, have the right to tell little kids what to do. Marquice scrunched his nose and said, “Yeah. They’re parents, that’s what they do. But bullies can’t do that.” —Theresa Horn (Kalamazoo College student).
