Kalamazoo College is committed to making education accessible to all and strives to provide opportunity and agency for students with disabilities. The College believes, in most cases, a K education is possible for all students\u2014regardless of their disability\u2014through reasonable and personalized modifications and accommodations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students with disabilities are encouraged to reach out to the Dean of Students to collaborate on accommodations and ways to promote self-advocacy in their learning.<\/strong> Together they will discuss the student’s particular needs and potential accommodations that would enable them to reach their academic potential.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

After coming up with a plan, students will be responsible for contacting the staff members relevant to their approved accommodations, doing their part in implementing their accommodations, and continuing to participate in activities that lessen the impact of their disability on their academic performance. Facilitating these steps themselves, students will have more control over the effectiveness of their accommodations and will have set the foundation for success in post-graduate life. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Note: Any costs associated with diagnosis, evaluation and testing are the responsibility of the student.<\/em> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In compliance with section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended, and with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA), Kalamazoo College recognizes that qualified students who have diagnosed or identified learning, physical, or emotional disabilities are entitled to the same benefits from the educational programs of the college as non-disabled students.
