Dr. Karlyn Crowley became the 19th president of Kalamazoo College on July 1, 2026, bringing a distinguished record of strategic leadership, academic innovation, community partnership and a deep belief in the transformative power of the liberal arts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

President’s Message: Truth. Hope. Innovation. Joy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Every generation at K has asked some version of the same two-word question: What if?<\/em> What if students sailed off to learn from the world\u2014long before study abroad was common? What if internships, research and a senior project were a part of every student\u2019s portfolio? Those questions built the K-Plan<\/em>, changed higher education, and still shape the experience of students who cross our Quad today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spend an afternoon on campus and you\u2019ll meet students who want to understand the world and then do something to change it. They work alongside faculty who know them by name. They test big ideas in small classrooms. They walk into their first job interview with real experience to talk about.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That work doesn\u2019t stop at the edge of campus. We\u2019re proud that Kalamazoo is in our name. This is a city that bets on itself. It reinvents. It reinvests. Our partnerships with local schools, organizations and employers make K stronger, and helping make Kalamazoo stronger is part of our job. So we\u2019re rolling up our sleeves to build bold new partnerships across the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Which brings us back to what if?<\/em> It\u2019s our turn to ask what comes next. How do we prepare graduates for careers that artificial intelligence is already reshaping? How do we make the path from K to meaningful work clear from day one? How do we keep a K education within reach for talented students and their families? How do we help build a city where people are excited to put down roots?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My leadership philosophy is simple: Truth. Hope. Innovation. Joy. Appreciate where we are, imagine what\u2019s possible, build it together\u2014and have some fun along the way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
