A Kalamazoo College faculty member and expert in artificial neural networks, sometimes referred to as artificial intelligence, will discuss two of this year\u2019s Nobel Prize in Physics<\/a> recipients at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in Olds-Upton Hall, room 207.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Luce Professor of Complex Systems Studies P\u00e9ter \u00c9rdi will talk about the work of John Hopfield and Geoffrey Hinton<\/a> in an address titled \u201cNobel Prize for Physics in 2024: Interdisciplinary Science, Neurophysics and Learning Machines.\u201d Hopfield created an associative memory that can store and reconstruct images and other types of patterns in data. Hinton invented a method that can autonomously find properties in data and perform tasks such as identifying specific elements in pictures.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
