10. Student\u2019s Research Signals Trouble with Climate Change for Fish<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Grace Hancock \u201922 and her Senior Integrated Project (SIP) are proving that something fishy is going on with climate change. She is a great example of the women celebrated by the U.N. every February 11 on the International Day of Women and Girls in Science.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

9. Chemistry Student Selected as National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The National Science Foundation has selected Ola Bartolik \u201922 as a Graduate Research Fellow to support her graduate career at the University of Michigan. The fellowship recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students in STEM disciplines who are pursuing research-based master\u2019s and doctoral degrees at accredited U.S. institutions.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

8. Phi Beta Kappa Chapter at K Welcomes Newest Inductees<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Delta of Michigan Chapter of the Phi Beta Kappa Society at Kalamazoo College welcomed 42 inductees for 2022 at an induction ceremony on June 8.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The mission of the Phi Beta Kappa Society is to champion education in the liberal arts and sciences<\/a>, foster freedom of thought and recognize academic excellence.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

7. Student Earns Alpha Lambda Delta Scholarship<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the first time in nearly 10 years, a Kalamazoo College student received a merit scholarship from Alpha Lambda Delta, the honor society for first-year academic success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shahriar Akhavan Tafti \u201924 will receive one of 50 undergraduate scholarships worth $1,000 to $6,000 each, as the honor society issues a total of $105,000 nationally through the Jo Anne J. Trow Award<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Will Keller \u201923 told the Audubon Society of Kalamazoo about his Big Year. For bird enthusiasts like Keller, a Big Year is a personal challenge or an informal competition to spot and identify as many bird species as possible within a calendar year in a specific geographic area.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

5. Bienstock Pushes K\u2019s Fulbright Count to 5<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rebecca Chan \u201922, Libby Burton \u201922, Matthew Flotemersch \u201920 and Kiernan Dean-Hall \u201922 initially were chosen among about 1,900 students, artists and young professionals to represent the U.S.<\/a> in about 140 countries for one academic year.
