Several Kalamazoo College alumni work at Amazon in roles such as marketing, human resources and business development. K students will have a chance to network with them Thursday, February 11.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

K to the Pacific Northwest, a series of K-Treks<\/a> helping\u00a0students\u00a0network virtually with alumni at global companies, is continuing\u00a0from\u00a07:30\u00a0to 9\u00a0p.m. Thursday with K to Amazon.<\/p>\n

Offered through the\u00a0Center for Career and Professional Development<\/a>\u00a0(CCPD),\u00a0K-Treks\u00a0are traditionally career-immersion experiences in which students travel to explore jobs of interest. With virtual experiences this term,\u00a0all students are invited to participate regardless of their major.<\/p>\n

Several K alumni work at Amazon in roles\u00a0such as marketing, human resources and business development at facilities such as the\u00a0Amazon Spheres.\u00a0Some of those alumni were\u00a0recently\u00a0featured\u00a0in\u00a0LuxEsto<\/i><\/a>, the College\u2019s digital magazine.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe tell students that the best path to landing a job or an internship is through one\u2019s network,.\u201d CCPD Assistant Director for External Relations Valerie Miller said. \u201cRecruiters might sift through hundreds of resumes for a single job posting, but someone in your network can open doors to unknown companies and opportunities. Even virtually, you can\u2019t beat an opportunity to meet K alumni and expand your network.\u201d<\/p>\n

Amazon focuses on e-commerce, cloud computing, digital streaming and artificial intelligence, and is one of the world’s most valuable global brands.\u00a0Students may register for K to Amazon, co-sponsored by the Marketing and Investment Club,\u00a0through\u00a0Handshake<\/a>\u00a0at any time before\u00a0the event.\u00a0While at Handshake, students may also register for K to Starbucks, slated for March 4.<\/p>\n
