Frequently Asked Questions for Commencement Weekend

How long will the ceremony last?
The ceremony will last between 1 1/2 – 2 hours.

What should I wear?
The average temperature for mid-June in Michigan is 75 degrees Fahrenheit. The event is rain or shine, so bringing an umbrella is suggested for the rain, but also for protection from the sun. Seating is bleacher style and there will not be shady areas available. Please avoid wearing high heeled shoes. The field is artificial turf and can create a significant walking challenge.

What times should I arrive?
Gates will open at 9 a.m., one hour prior to the ceremony.

Where should I park?
All parking is free. There will be very limited parking in Kalamazoo College’s Fieldhouse and Athletic Complex parking lot on the north side of West Michigan Avenue just west of Burrows Road. Street parking is also available in the surrounding area.

Parking is also available in the Western Michigan University parking ramp just west of the stadium on West Michigan Avenue.

How do I get there?
Kalamazoo College’s Angell Field is located at the corner of West Michigan Avenue and Burrows Road. While Angell Field does not have a mailing address, many online maps use 1600 West Michigan Ave, 49008, as the location of the fields.
