Instead, the concentration is designed to pool the knowledge of each discipline for a more holistic approach to learning so that you have the tools to assess, analyze, and evaluate the globe\u2019s most pressing environmental problems.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You will learn these skills by taking a variety of courses in anthropology and sociology, political science, economics, art and art history, English, biology, history, philosophy, and, of course, environmental science. Fellowships are a chance to get paid to work on <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.kzoo.edu\/news\/wildflowers\/\" target=\"_blank\">stewardship and sustainability projects<\/a> in our community; whereas your SIP is a capstone project where you can conduct research, reflect on nature, create art, or implement conservation projects. It&#8217;s such a small campus so everywhere I go I see people I know, but it&#8217;s just big enough that I&#8217;m also always meeting new people!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How have you taken advantage of the flexible curriculum or experienced breadth in your education?<\/strong><br><br>The Environmental Studies concentration strongly encourages branching out and has introduced me to many departments I will be taking more classes in, including philosophy and economics! I also got the fantastic opportunity to study abroad in Ecuador!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What is your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kzoo.edu\/k-plan\/sip\/\">Senior Integrated Project<\/a> (SIP)?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I will be working at an entomology lab at MSU exploring integrated pest management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><strong>What has been your favorite class at K?<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My favorite class at K was PHIL-105 Environmental Philosophy.
