Browsing this site, it shouldn't take you
long to learn what to expect and how to navigate it. Each page
of this site should follow a consistent design format. The banner,
menu bar, and footer should be consistent on each page. Most
pages also have a menu of resources on the left side to give you
more information about the topic on the page. This helps ensure
that visitors do not get lost on our pages.
Important note: the templates use a style sheet on the server. To be able to see the styles
when working on your local machine, download the style
sheet to your working folder. Make sure to save it in the same folder as your HTML files. More
info about styles.
To download a template, click on the download link, then choose "File, Save
as...".
Internet Explorer and Netscape 7.x users: Be sure to save as type "Web Page, HTML only". |
Consistency
"Establish a layout grid and a style for handling your text and graphics,
then apply it consistently to build rhythm and unity across the
pages of your site. Repetition is not boring; it gives your site
a consistent graphic identity that creates and then reinforces
a distinct sense of "place" and
makes your site memorable. A consistent approach to layout and
navigation allows readers to adapt quickly to your design and to
confidently predict the location of information and navigation
controls across the pages of your site. "
