"
I love to counsel these bright, hardworking, energetic, and talented
students, who, with a modicum of guidance and support, construct
creative solutions to break stifling vicious cycles into
self-actualizing virtuous cycles, that reclaim their future, and
stay their path to autonomy, intimacy and interdependence.
As well, I enjoy the fellowship of a faculty and staff who continue
to amaze me with their persistent willingness to go the extra
mile to make "K" more "user-friendly" for
students with learning differences."
Alan
Hill, who holds BA and MS degrees from Southern Connecticut University,
an MA from Western Michigan University and a PhD in clinical psychology
from Miami University of Ohio, began his work as a half-time psychologist
at Kalamazoo College in 1992. Dr. Hill also works at Gateway
Services and, until recently, taught psychology at Kalamazoo Valley
Community College. He completed an APA-approved internship
at Counseling and Psychological Services of Indiana University.
He fancies himself as a generalist, but does specialize in psychological
assessment, substance abuse, anger problems and learning disabilities.
Outside of his work, Dr. Hill enjoys playing all sports and coaching
a few, playing with his wife and two children, or playing with
his integrative theory of psychotherapy.
