Office of Student Development

Goals of the Student Development Division

The Office of Student Development is expected to make distinct contributions to the efforts to achieve the stated mission and implied goals of Kalamazoo College.
Within this framework it has the particular obligation to direct its attention and energies toward the development of the student members of the community, particularly in the five dimensions of experiential education: lifelong learning, leadership development, intercultural communication, career readiness, and social responsibility.

By adopting the following goals, the Office of Student Development aids the College in its efforts to achieve its broadly stated educational mission.  These goals direct the policies, practices and personnel of the division toward common and interdependent purposes, even though they may be seen as diverse activities carried out by different offices. The Office of Student Development includes the offices of Dean of Students, Health Services, Campus Life, Counseling, Residential Life, Student Activities and Security.
