First-Year
Forums are intended to help entering “K” students
learn the history and tradition of our College, consider critical
educational issues, and continue their academic and personal
growth. They foster the goals of the First-Year Experience
Program, which are to help students:
•
achieve academic success
• make choices that lead to balanced lives
• learn to relate to people and cultures different than
their own
First-year
students are required to attend five Forums during fall term.
Many students go to a number of Forums beyond this basic requirement.
Attendance is taken in the same way as at LAC events. If a
student attends fewer than five Forums, two percentage points
for each Forum missed are deducted from the final Seminar
grade. Questions about attendance records can be directed
