Too often, men in their natural arrogance come to assume that their own ideology is intrinsically correct, failing to understand how another may come to hold opposing beliefs. Demonization becomes the tool with which they reconcile reality with their overconfidence: “Given how obviously correct my beliefs are, he who disagrees must be malicious or idiotic, for his position cannot be valid.” Their challengers thus reduced to inhumanity, the ideologues go out into the world no longer able to defend their beliefs through reasoned argument. Personal hatred is their only remaining justification.

The Mud and Mayhem Society is dedicated to challenging all ideologies in order to shake their adherents free of this stagnation, re-arm them with the tools to defend their beliefs, and provide an understanding of the justification of their opposition. In short, our goal is the enlightenment of the public. We shall not allow ignorance to pass in front of us unassaulted, nor shall we fall blindly to the task we have set forth and begin challenging opinions simply for the sake of the challenging. To these goals we commit ourselves, that one day all might participate in the respectful exchange of ideas.
