Guidelines
for Student Commission Funding
This document
is a summary of the guidelines for funding in the Student Commission
by-laws.
- A budgetary
request may be allocated to an organization if:
- The Organization
has followed proper procedure for submitting the request.
- The request
is in line with the organization's Constitution, mission statement
and goals.
- The request
has cultural, social, economical, or educational benefit for
the Kalamazoo College Community.
- Budgetary
requests are economically sound and fiscally responsibly.
- The organization
is in good standing with the Student Commission and its policies,
and carries no outstanding debt.
- No organization
may request a budget in the initial quarter of its creation.
- The request
is not the responsibility of other campus departments or organizations.
- In general,
event, programs, and activities that benefit the campus community
rather than simply the members of the organization shall receive
highest priority.
- Organizations
shall design activities and programs that remain on the Kalamazoo
College campus or remain within the greater Kalamazoo area. Events
taking place outside the Kalamazoo area shall be of much lesser
priority.
- Miscellaneous
or unaccounted-for supplies shall be of low priority.
- Food that
is not the central purpose of an event (e.g. refreshments, snack,
beverages) shall be of low priority.
- As a last
resort a systematic reduction of organizational budget requests
exceeding $200 shall be in order.
