Heart and Hearth
The Renovation of the Hicks Student Center

To describe Hicks as the heart and hearth of the campus is to describe a place that functions as the College's family room, a place to relax from our labors, that provides opportunity for hospitality, and that nurtures connection and engagement; the social heart of the College.

Centripetal Force

While our strength is in a centrifugal education -- outward-facing, outward-going, constantly spinning students out and away from the campus to prepare enlightened world citizens with a global view of their responsibility -- we need the counterbalancing force, a centripetal force that invites learners and teachers back to the center that energizes their affiliation and engagement. more background and mission.

The Bookstore is also accessible from the East end of the building, but nothing beyond it (President's Lounge, Lobby, Union Desk) will be accessible or operational during the renovation. The ATM machine previously located in the Hicks Lobby is in the Library lobby, near Beaners.
