Living Learning Housing Units

Themes have included sustainability, wellness, music, language and culture, women’s issues, food and nutrition, business, art, global issues, volunteerism, and spirituality.

Living Learning Housing Units allow students to live with people who share similar interests. Students with a shared interest find this the best way to help educate themselves and the larger campus community on issues related to their cause. Living Learning Housing Unit themes change with each academic year and have included sustainability, wellness, music, language and culture, women’s issues, food and nutrition, business, art, global issues, volunteerism, and spirituality.

Capacity: Between 8 to 10 residents will share a Living Learning Housing Unit. Seven of the Living Learning Housing Units are freestanding houses, and one is located in the lower level of Trowbridge Hall.

Room Types: House arrangements are a combination of single, double, and triple bedrooms. Each bedroom contains a bed, study desk, desk chair, and dresser for each occupant. The common areas of the houses are also furnished with couches and tables. Each house offers a kitchen where house members often prepare and share meals together.

Meals: Residents in the Living Learning Housing Units are not required to carry a meal plan since each house has a full kitchen. However the option does exist to carry a plan if desired by an individual.

Members of the house appoint a liaison to work with the Office of Residential Life on programming in the house and facilitating student needs. Students residing in a Living Learning Housing Unit pay an additional fee to sponsor programs for the residents of the house and the campus community. Programming efforts in the houses include events such as music festivals, trips to the Farmer’s Market, programs focusing on culture or political issues, outdoor activities, poetry nights, open mic events, speakers from the community, dinners, and dances.
