Student Activities

Extracurricular activities are central to the development of Kalamazoo College students. Quality entertainment and social opportunities enrich student life at Kalamazoo College. A variety of activities, open to all "K" students throughout the year, help students balance academics with social activity and bring a social commonality to the student body.

“Active involvement on campus, in and out of the classroom, can provide a connection to our community, a sense of balance, and greater meaning and fulfillment in our daily lives. I believe it is through relationships and in the opportunities we take advantage of, that we truly develop our identity and purpose in life.”

It's all student- organized!
The Kalamazoo College Student Activities Committee (SAC) is a group of student volunteers who are responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing major campus events for the student body. Faculty and staff members are often invited to participate in these programs. SAC members meet weekly with the Student Activities Coordinator to plan these events. Membership is open to all students. SAC promotes fun, growth, leadership, organizational skills, and team planning.

AIR BAND/TALENT SHOW

Groups of students and individuals show off their exciting talents. Many groups lip sync to their favorite songs . . . others sing, dance, or play a musical instrument . . . some even yo-yo!! It's always entertaining and any students are welcome to participate. The contest is judged and prizes are awarded accordingly!

Exam week extravaganza, usually sometime the weekend before exams, provides a stress free environment for a few hours. Every quarter is different. Sometimes profs and administrators serve ice cream and pizza or other yummy treats while music is playing. It's a time to socialize and relax. Student groups such as Monkapult or student bands may provide entertainment. Comedians, musicians, and trivia game shows have also been seen at the extravaganza. It's a great break students won't want to miss!

The special events are usually first or second weekend. Special Events from the past have included Comedy Club.
