
Women's Basketball ties school record with win
The Hornets put together an 8-0 run to close out the first half with a 35-26 advantage. Adrian cut the lead to two points with 14:04 left in the game, but Kalamazoo held on and extended the lead to pick up the win. Free throw shooting was key down the stretch as the Hornets connected on eight of their last eight attempts. Kalamazoo hit 25-of-32 free throws (78.1 percent) for the game. Amanda Weishuhn led five Hornets in double-figures with 14 points. MaryJane Valade scored 13 points and grabbed six rebounds. Lindsay Drury scored 11 points with seven boards. Beth Reuter added 11 points and nine rebounds while Jasmin MacAlpine scored 10 with a team-high seven assists. Kalamazoo had only 12 turnovers, and only two in the first half. The Hornets held the rebounding edge, 51-41. Kalamazoo improves to 14-4 (7-3 MIAA) with the win. The Hornets will try to break the school record for wins when the host Saint Mary's College Tuesday night at 7:30. |
