ADRIAN - The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team lost
78-66 at Adrian in the MIAA Tournament Play-in Game on Monday,
Feb. 19.
Kalamazoo trailed 39-27 at halftime after committing 17 first-half
turnovers. The Hornets fought back in the second half, cutting
the lead to five (70-65) with 1:52 left to play. But, Kalamazoo
missed two shots and turned the ball over twice while Adrian
sank 6-of-7 free throws to secure the 78-66 win.
Kalamazoo shot 47.9 percent from the field while Adrian shot
42.6 percent. Kalamazoo made 17-of-21 free throws to Adrian's
16-of-19. But, Kalamazoo turned the ball over 26 times while
Adrian had just 15 turnovers. Adrian also held a 36-32 rebounding
edge.
Nyemade Cooper led the Hornets with 17 points on 8-of-11
shooting. Kelsea Howell scored 16 points and Sara Lappan finished
with 14.
Anita Stamps led Adrian with 18 points while Nichole Roose
finished with 17.
