ANGOLA, Ind. - The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team
got off to a very slow start and lost 67-46 at Tri-State on
Wednesday, Feb. 14.
Kalamazoo trailed 35-7 to open the game, but closed out the
first half on a 15-2 run to trail 37-22 at halftime. Tri-State
outscored Kalamazoo 30-24 in the second half.
Tri-State shot 38.8 percent from the field and made 11-of-29
three-pointers. Kalamazoo shot 37.2 percent and made just
1-of-9 three-pointers. Tri-State was 4-of-6 at the free throw
line while Kalamazoo made 13-of-22. While the shooting percentages
were nearly equal, Tri-State had 24 extra shots from the field
as a result of a 40-34 rebounding advantage and 25 Kalamazoo
turnovers.
Kelsea Howell led Kalamazoo with 11 points and seven rebounds.
Allie Oosta scored eight points and Nymade Cooper added seven
points.
Kelly Rogers led Tri-State with 19 points while making 5-of-10
three-pointers.
Kalamazoo wraps up the regular season this Saturday at Olivet
at 3 p.m.
