2006-07 Kalamazoo College Women's Basketball

GRAND RAPIDS - The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team lost its MIAA opener 86-58 at Calvin College on Wednesday. Calvin (5-1, 1-0) led 40-27 at halftime.

Kelsea Howelll led Kalamazoo with 19 points and five rebounds. Briana Hendrix added 11 points off the bench. Sara Lappan and Andrea Bedway each scored six points. Nyemade Cooper had a team-high 11 rebounds.

Lisa Winkle led four Calvin players in double figures with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Marcia Harris added 16 points.

Calvin shot 50.7 percent from the field while holding Kalamazoo to just 30.6 percent. Kalamazoo held a 46-36 rebounding advantage, but committed 27 turnovers to Calvin's 19.

Kalamazoo (1-5, 0-1) returns to action this Saturday when the Hornets host Adrian at 3 p.m.
