KALAMAZOO - The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team
lost 75-63 to the College of Wooster on Saturday. Kalamazoo
led 31-23 at halftime and 45-31 with 14 minutes left in the
second quarter, but Wooster went on a 15-0 run to take a 46-45
lead with 10:38 left. Kalamazoo regained the lead at 47-46,
but Wooster pulled ahead for good (48-47) with 9:00 left in
the game.
Wooster shot 47.1 percent from the field while Kalamazoo
shot 40 percent. Wooster sank 21-of-32 free throws (65.6%)
while Kalamazoo sank 18-of-24 (75%). Kalamazoo turned the
ball over 25 times to Wooster's 19. Wooster held a 36-34 rebounding
edge.
Kelsea Howell led Kalamazoo with 20 points ad five rebounds.
Nyemade Cooper scored 17 points with six rebounds while making
11-of-13 free throws.
Kym Wenz led Wooster with 22 points. Beth Besancon Sidle
scored 21 points for the Scots (5-5).
Kalamazoo returns to action on Tuesday when the Hornets host
Hope College at 7:30 p.m.
