KALAMAZOO - The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team
lost to Olivet 89-54 on Wednesday.
Olivet took a 12-0 lead to open the game while holding Kalamazoo
scoreless through the first 5:22. The Comets led by as many
as 20 points (42-22) in the first half and took a 16-point
lead (42-26) into halftime.
Kalamazoo twice cut the Olivet lead to eight points with
just over 14 minutes left in the second half, but Olivet outscored
the Hornets 40-13 in the final 14 minutes.
Olivet shot 56.3 percent from the field and 57.1 percent
(8-14) from three-point range. The Comets also sank 9-of-10
free throws. Kalamazoo was held to just 31.3 percent shooting
and made just 2-of-16 three-pointers. The Hornets made 12-of-21
at the free throw line. Olivet outrebounded Kalamazoo 47-31.
Andrea Bedway led Kalamazoo with 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting
and 3-for-4 at the line. Briana Hendrix scored 11 points while
Kelsea Howell finished with nine points. Nymade Cooper scored
seven points with six rebounds.
Audrey Graham led Olivet with 21 points on 9-of-18 shooting.
Jaime Kowalczyk and Amanda Johnston each scored 10 points.
The Hornets return to action Dec. 18 against Whiiter College
at Occidental in California.
