KALAMAZOO - The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team
lost 81-34 to MIAA leading and NCAA Division III top-ranked
Hope College on Tuesday.
Kalamazoo trailed 16-10 early on, but Hope went on a 32-7
run to close out the first half with a 48-17 halftime lead.
Kalamazoo was held scoreless during the first 6:44 of the
second half as Hope pulled out to a 58-17 advantage. The Flying
Duch outscored Kalamazoo 33-17 in the second half.
Hope shot 48.6 percent from the field while holding Kalamazoo
to just 25.5 percent. Hope outrebounded Kalamazoo 51-32, including
18-10 on the offensive end. Kalamazoo turned the ball over
29 times leading to 30 points by the Flying Dutch. Hope had
just 13 turnovers.
Kelsea Howell led Kalamazoo with 11 points and six rebounds.
Therese Demres scored eight points off the bench. Briana Hendrix
finished with seven points and four rebounds.
Stacy Warsen led four Hope players in double figures with
12 points.
