HOLLAND - The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team fell
89-66 to Hope in the first round of the MIAA Tournament on
Tuesday. The Hornets fell into a hole early, trailing 17-2
eight minutes into the game and 43-18 at halftime.
Hope shot 56.1 percent while holding Kalamazoo to 31 percent.
Kalamazoo made 20-of-26 free throws. Hope made 17-of-28. Hope
held a 48-29 rebounding advantage.
Angie Neu and Ashley Riley each scored 13 points. Riley led
the Hornets with nine rebounds. Lindsay Basler and Therese
Demres each scored 11. Mary Brown added 10.
Sarah Jurik led Hope with 14 points and six rebounds off
the bench. Julie Henderson added 10 for the Flying Dutch (23-3).
Kalamazoo finishes the season with a record of 10-16.
