
KALAMAZOO - The number three seeded Kalamazoo College women's basketball team lost 78-74 to number six seeded Olivet in overtime in the first round of the MIAA Tournament at Anderson Athletic Center tonight. There were 11 lead changes in the game along with 12 ties, including a 24-24 score at halftime.
Olivet shot 42.4 percent from the field and sank 10-of-21 three-pointers (47.6%). Olivet also made 18-of-22 at the free throw line. Kalamazoo shot 45.3 percent from the field and 42.9 percent (6-14) from behind the arc. The Hornets meshed 20-of-27 from the free throw line. Olivet held a 40-31 rebounding advantage.
Alissa Johnston matched a career-high with 27 points on 8-of-16 shooting with five assists and five rebounds. Amanda Weishuhn added 18 points while Vanessa Larkin finisheds with 14 points.
Molly Lipton led Olivet (12-14) with 24 points and five assists. Lipton sank 6-of-11 from behind the arc. Emily Fix added 15 points off the bench and Courtney Ivan finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds for the Comets.
Amanda Weishuhn finishes her career with 1,204 points, fourth highest in school history. Vanessa Larkin finishes eighth best with 985 points. Alissa Johnston finishes ninth with 889 points.
Kalamazoo finishes its fourth consecutive winning season with a record of 15-10. The Hornets tied for second in the MIAA with a 9-5 mark.
