Kalamazoo College

KALAMAZOO - The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team rallied to beat Goshen College 69-68 at Anderson Athletic Center this afternoon. Kalamazoo trailed 35-28 at halftime. Kalamazoo had the ball with eight seconds remaining and the score tied 68-68. Vanessa Larkin drove the lane and was fouled on a layup attempt with one second remaining. Larkin sank the first free throw, but missed the second as Goshen called timeout immediately as they grabbed the rebound. The Maple Leafs threw a pass three quarters of the court and the three-point shot attempt was blocked by Larkin as time expired.

Lindsay Basler sparked the Hornets (4-4) with a career-high 18 points off the bench. Basler was 7-of-11 shooting and 4-for-4 behind the arc. Amanda Weishuhn added 15 points and seven rebounds and was 9-of-10 at the free throw line. Alissa Johnston added 10 points for Kalamazoo.

Lindsay Fisher led Goshen (6-6) with 18 points including 10-of-13 at the charity stripe. Jennifer Rupp scored 16 points with five rebounds. Kortney Hanson added 12 points and five rebounds. Erin McDugle finished with 11 points and five rebounds.

Kalamazoo shot 40 percent from the field and 46.2 percent (6-13) from three-point range. The Hornets also sank 15-of-21 free throws.

Goshen shot 42.9 percent from the field and 35.7 percenty (5-14) from three-point range. Goshen was 27-of-38 at the line.

Goshen held a 35-32 rebounding advantage, but the Maple Leafs turned the ball over 22 times to Kalamazoo's 17.
