
KALAMAZOO - The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team got off to a good start in the MIAA with a 76-63 win over Calvin College (9-3, 0-1) at Anderson Athletic Center on Wednesday. Kalamazoo led 34-25.
The Hornets shot 45.3 percent from the field while holding Calvin to just 33.9 percent. Kalamazoo outrebounded the Knights 43-33.
Alissa Johnston led Kalamazoo with 19 points and seven rebounds. Amanda Weishuhn added 17 points and five assists. Ashley Riley recorded her first career double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds. Vanessa Larkin added 10 points and four assists.
Kim Wolthuis and Emily Beard each scored 13 points for Calvin. Beard had a team-high seven rebounds.
Kalamazoo (7-4, 1-0) travels to Alma College on Saturday.
