
KALAMAZOO - The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team strengthened
its grip on second place in the MIAA with an 85-61 win over Adrian on Saturday.
Kalamazoo shot 60 percent in the first half en route to a 51-31 lead at
the break.
Playing in her final regular season home game, Niki Grubb finished with
29 points and 10 rebounds while shooting 7-of-12 from the field and 13-of-15
at the free throw line. She had 18 points at halftime.
Amanda Weishuhn added 19 points and six rebounds for the Hornets. Alissa
Johnston finished with 14 points, five rebounds, and five assists. She
was 8-for-8 at the free throw line. Vanessa Larkin fouled out with nine
points.
Ra'Sheida Edwards led Adrian with 11 points and seven rebounds.
Kalamazoo shot 42.6 percent from the field while holding Adrian to 38.9
percent. Kalamazoo held a 38-37 rebounding edge. The Hornets were 7-of-12
from three-point range and 26-31 at the line.
Kalamazoo picked up its 18th win of the season marking the third consecutive year with 18 wins. The school record is 18 wins and the Hornets have two regular season games left plus the MIAA Tournament.
