
KALAMAZOO - The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team defeated Alma College 59-50 on Saturday. Kalamazoo led 34-24 at halftime.
Niki Grubb led all scorers with 22 points on 8-of-11 shooting. She was 4-of-5 at the free throw line. Ashley Riley scored eight points with eight rebounds. Sara Kellogg added 10 points and six rebounds. Alissa Johnston finished with nine points and five rebounds. Vanessa Larkin had seven points, six rebounds, and six assists.
Karen Hall, Shelly Ulfig, and Janell Twietmeyer each scored 15 points for the Scots. Ulfig had a game-high 13 rebounds. Twietmeyer finished with 10 rebounds.
Kalamazoo shot 41.8 percent from the field while holding Alma to 32.0 percent. Alma held a 38-33 rebounding advantage. Alma had 18 turnovers while the Hornets committed only 14 turnovers.
Kalamazoo (16-5/7-3 MIAA) travels to Albion on Wednesday.
