KALAMAZOO - The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team recorded its first-ever 20-win season with a 69-57 win over Alma College (#7) in the first round of the MIAA Tournament. Kalamazoo (#2) hosts Adrian (#3) in the semifinals on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

Kalamazoo capitalized on 30 Alma turnovers, including 17 in the first half, to take a 26-20 halftime lead. Kalamazoo committed only 10 turnovers in the game. Alma outshot Kalamazoo, 44.9 percent to 40.0 percent. The Scots also held a 42-28 rebounding advantage.

Vanessa Larkin led five Hornets in double figures with 17 points. She also had six assists and seven steals. Ashley Riley and Niki Grubb each scored 12 points, and Alissa Johnston and Sara Kellogg each finished with 10 points. Amanda Weishuhn added eight points and five rebounds.

Shelly Ulfig led Alma with 21 points and 12 rebounds. She was scoreless at the half. Karen Hall added 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Scots (11-15).
