
OLIVET - The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team set a school record by winning its 19th game of the season, a 63-55 victory over Olivet on Wednesday. Kalamazoo had recorded 18 wins the past two seasons.
Niki Grubb led Kalamazoo with 19 points and six rebounds. Alissa Johnston scored 17 points with six rebounds. Vanessa Larkin added 10 points and eight rebounds. Amanda Weishuhn scored six points with 10 rebounds and Sara Kellogg finished with nine points and nine rebounds.
Emily Fix led Olivet with 14 points. Molly Lipton scored 11 points and Ashley Blackmer added 10 points. Louisa Grill scored six points with 11 rebounds.
Kalamazoo shot 40.8 percent from the field while holding Olivet to 35.6 percent. Kalamazoo held a 43-35 rebounding advantage, however Kalamazoo committed 26 turnovers while Olivet had 23 turnovers.
Kalamazoo (19-5. 10-3 MIAA) travels to Saint Mary's College for the regular season finale on Saturday. With tonight's win Kalamazoo has clinched sole possession of second place in the MIAA. The Hornets will host a first round MIAA Tournament game on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
