Kalamazoo College

KALAMAZOO - The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team improved to 9-2 on the season with a 72-56 win over the Milwaukee School of Engineering on Saturday. The Hornets led 36-31 at halftime.

Alissa Johnston and Amanda Weishuhn each scored 22 points to lead the Hornets. Weishuhn had nine rebounds and Johnston finished with six assists. Niki Grubb added 10 points and four assists for Kalamazoo, while Vanessa Larkin scored seven points with nine rebounds and four assists.

Kalamazoo shot 43.9 percent from the field and connected on 15-of-17 free throws (88.2%). The Hornets had 12 turnovers while forcing MSOE into 21 turnovers. MSOE held a 38-31 rebounding advantage.

Kalamazoo opens MIAA play on Wednesday when the Hornets host Hope College at 7:30 p.m.
