ALMA - Niki Grubb hit the game-winning jumper as time expired to lift Kalamazoo to a 63-61 win at Alma on Wednesday.
Grubb finished with 15 points and six rebounds. Johnston had a game-high 17 points with three assists. Vanessa Larkin scored 10 points with five rebounds and three assists.
Kristie Gehrs led Alma with 17 points. Shelly Ulfig added 13 points with eight rebounds and Mindy VanDamme finished with 11 points.
Kalamazoo shot 43.1 percent while Alma made 50.0 percent of its shots. Kalamazoo held a 30-29 rebounding edge. Kalamazoo led 31-29 at halftime.
Kalamazoo (11-3/2-1 MIAA) returns home on Saturday to face Albion.
