
KALAMAZOO - The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team used a strong second-half effort to defeat Calvin 73-53 at the Anderson Athletic Center on Wednesday. Kalamazoo led 31-26 at halftime and outscored Calvin 42-27 in the second half.
Vanessa Larkin led Kalamazoo with 22 points, eight rebounds, five assists, and five steals in 39 minutes of play. She was 4-of-7 from three-point range and 9-of-15 overall. Niki Grubb added 12 points, six rebounds, and five steals. Amanda Weishuhn and Alissa Johnston each finished with 10 points.
Kristen McDonald led Calvin with 10 points.
Kalamazoo shot 49.2 percent from the field and 40.0 percent (6-15) from three-point range. Calvin held a 39-36 rebounding advantage but committed 26 turnovers. Kalamazoo turned the ball over 19 times.
Kalamazoo (15-5/6-3 MIAA) returns to action on Saturday when the Hornets host Alma College at 3 p.m.
