
KALAMAZOO - The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team lost the MIAA
opener 74-57 to Hope College. Hope, currently ranked second in the country
by D3hoops.com, led 38-23 at halftime.
Kalamazoo turned the ball over 22 times while Hope had only 13 turnovers.
The Hornets were in foul trouble early and sent Hope to the line 43 times
while Kalamazoo had only 24 free throw attempts.
Niki Grubb led Kalamazoo with 19 points and eight rebounds. Vanessa Larkin
fouled out with 15 points and Alissa Johnston finished with 12 points.
Becky Sutton led four Hope players in double figures with 16 points.
Amanda Kerkstra finished with 15 points and seven rebounds.
Kalamazoo (9-3 / 0-1 MIAA) travels to Calvin College on Saturday.
