KALAMAZOO - The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team defeated Olivet 85-51 on Saturday. Kalamazoo led by only six at halftime (24-18), but outscored Olivet 61-33 in the second half en route to the 34-point victory.
Alissa Johnston led Kalamazoo with 24 points and four assists. She was 4-of-6 from three-point range. Niki Grubb scored 16 points with eight rebounds. Vanessa Larkin added 14 points while Amanda Weishuhn finished with 12 points and seven rebounds.
Louisa Grill led Olivet with 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Kalamazoo shot 49.1 percent from the field while converting on 22-of-26 free throw attempts. Olivet shot 46.5 percent from the field and hit only 7-of-19 free throw attempts. Olivet committed 30 turnovers in the game. Kalamazoo held a 33-29 rebounding edge.
Kalamazoo (13-4/4-2 MIAA) returns to action on Wednesday when the Hornets host Saint Mary's College at 7:30 p.m.
