Women's Basketball Falls at Alma

ALMA - The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team lost to second-place Alma College 64-54 today. Alma shot 43.6 percent while holding the visiting Hornets to just 28.3 percent.

Alma controlled the boards with a 38-25 rebounding advantage. 

MaryJane Valade led Kalamazoo with 19 points and eight rebounds. Valade had 1,281 points entering today's contest and now has 1,300 for her career. Vanessa Larkin added 13 points and Alissa Johnston finished with eight points.

Shelly Ulfig led Alma with 14 points and six rebounds. Janell Twietmeyer added 12 points and seven rebounds, and Joy Horton finished with 12 points.

Kalamazoo falls to 13-7 overall (5-5 MIAA). Alma improves to 14-5 overall (9-1 MIAA). Kalamazoo returns to action on Wednesday when it hosts Albion College at 7:30 p.m.
