
Women's Basketball Falls to HopeThe story of the game was at the free throw line where Hope had 20 more chances and outscored Kalamazoo 33-17. Hope was 33-of-43 (76.7%). Kalamazoo was 17-of-23 (73.9%). Three Kalamazoo players fouled out. Alissa Johnston led Kalamazoo with 15 points. Amanda Weishuhn had 14 points and five rebounds. MaryJane Valade finished with 12 points and three rebounds. Vanessa Larkin scored nine points with four rebounds and four assists. Lindsay Drury had six points, six rebounds, and four steals. Amanda Kerkstra led Hope with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Kristin Koenigsknecht also had a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Laura Geurink finished with 11 points. Hope held a 44-40 rebounding advantage. Neither team shot particularly well. Kalamazoo shot 35.5 percent including just 2-of-12 (16.7%) from 3-point range. Hope shot 34.0 percent and was 1-of-7 (14.3%) from behind the arch. Kalamazoo falls to 12-6 on the season, 4-4 in the MIAA. Hope improves to 16-2 overall and remains undefeated in the league at 8-0. Hope is currently ranked in the top-10 in the nation by two different polls. |
