MaryJane Valade earns national player-of-the-week honors

A senior forward from Farmington Hills (Mercy HS), Valade scored a total of 40 points in two conference victories last week. She scored 14 points in a 59-49 win at Albion College and 26 points in a 79-62 victory over Adrian College. She made 15-of-25 shots and was 10-for-10 at the free throw line. She grabbed 11 rebounds and had three assists, two blocks, and a steal.

D3hoops.com is a web site devoted solely to NCAA Division III men's and women's basketball. The site picks a team of five players for both men and women based on performances from the previous week. This is the first time ever that a basketball player from Kalamazoo College has been selected.

Kalamazoo College is 15-7 (7-5 MIAA) on the season. The Hornets close out the regular season this week with home games against Olivet College on Wednesday and Saint Mary’s College (Ind.) on Saturday.
